Fitness and Personal Protection:
Physical fitness alone does not insure safety.
Defensive skills alone do not insure safety.
Safer Faster Fitness Combines Functional Fitness with Practical Defensive Skills
Safer Faster Fitness Mission Statement:
Safer Faster Fitness wants to inspire people to learn about self-defense while improving their fitness level.
Safer Faster Fitness Methodology:
Safer Faster Fitness combines intense physical activity with demanding hand to hand defensive skills. Making the students experience and understand how anaerobic/aerobic taxation, muscle fatigue and stress affect cognitive capacity and control of fine/gross motor skills should elicit a profound understanding of the importance of fitness for personal defense.
Safer Faster Fitness also helps to evaluate defensive skills in simulation above students own fitness comfort level to expose areas for improvement or to expand context/skills/intensity.
Safer Faster Fitness Emphasis:
The focus throughout the Safer Faster Fitness Workout should be to retain the ability (i.e. control) to apply the skills necessary to stop the threat.
The ability to maintain greater control at higher speed must be trained, and Safer Faster Fitness will help the student do just that.
The fitness element of our program is based on Crossfit which is defined as “Constantly Varied Functional Movement Performed at High Intensity.”
A CrossFit maxim states: “Train for the unknown and the unknowable.”
Could this possibly include confrontations and violence?
At CrossFit 5 Cities and Central Coast CrossFit where I coach our motto is: “Train to not suck at life.”
How much would it suck to have the need to defend yourself or your loved ones, but not have the skills or the mindset to do so?
It is an unfortunate fact that bad things can happen to good people; the good news is that you can do something about it.
With CrossFit you chose to not be weak. Now choose to not be a victim!
Every time you workout you take responsibility for your fitness and health. If you think it’s time to take responsibility for your safety as well, join us and let us make you more response-able!
The self-defense element of our program is based on Critical Incident Combatives and the Personal Defense Readiness Program.
CrossFit, Critical Incident Combatives and the Personal Defense Readiness Program already have a lot in common. They are based on science and empirical evidence with a sole commitment to simplicity, efficiency, and results.
If CrossFit is the study of human movement, Critical Incident Combatives and the Personal Defense Readiness Program are the study of human movement and how it is affected by aggression, violence and fear.
These systems are unique in their approach to self-defense because they are designed around our instinctual responses to danger.
Keeping physiology in the forefront, Critical Incident Combatives and the Personal Defense Readiness programs fully integrate the body’s reflexive responses and survival mechanisms which make them the fastest most natural way to learn to protect yourself.
Another unique aspect of the Critical Incident Combatives and the Personal Defense Readiness programs is that they aim to prepare you for confrontation on the emotional and psychological level, as well as the physical.
Your mind is your strongest weapon, just as in CrossFit your mind is your strongest muscle. Skills and muscles without the mindset to apply them are useless, which is why we study the relationship between the mind and the body in relation to performance under extreme stress.
“What you feel affects the way you think and what you think affects the way you feel, both affect the way you move.”(Coach Blauer)
The class will include drills for skill development, fear management tools, the psychology of Confrontation and a Tactical Workout.
Tactical Workouts are constantly varying, high intensity functional movement modified to a tactical application, so you can become faster, stronger and safer!

FitShot
FitShot Combines Functional Fitness with Practical Shooting Skills
FitShot Mission Statement:
The FitShot program exists to promote a higher level of fitness within the shooting community.
FitShot Methodology:
FitShot combines intense physical activity with demanding practical shooting skills to motivate students to elevate their fitness level.
Making the students experience and understand how anaerobic/aerobic taxation, muscle fatigue and stress affect cognitive capacity and control of fine/gross motor skills should elicit a profound understanding of the importance of fitness for personal defense.
FitShot also helps to evaluate skills in simulation above students own fitness comfort level to expose areas for improvement or to expand context/skills/intensity.
Historically, fitness and shooting exercises have been combined many times. In most previous examples, an extended period of exercise is followed by a period of shooting. FitShot is unique in that shooting activities are integrated into the period of exercise
FitShot Definition:
Functional movements that cover a variety of biomechanical challenges which can be measured by time, combined with a matching number of dynamic shooting challenges that can be scored as a number of hits or misses, with misses carrying an appropriate time penalty.
FitShot Emphasis:
The focus throughout the FitShot Workout should be to retain the ability (i.e. control) to apply the skills necessary to fire accurate shots. Therefore precision should trump speed and the time penalties for a missed shot will reflect that. Precision>Speed always!
The ability to maintain greater control at higher speed must be trained, and FitShot will help the student do just that.
FitShot was developed as an I.C.E Training Company program by Combat Focus Shooting Instructors and CrossFit certified coaches.
Safety Protocol:
FitShot Instructors are aware that physical agility and attention to detail deteriorates when students are under physical duress. This contributes to elevated risk. Therefore specific safety protocols are integrated into the techniques and workouts to be performed.
We can program Workouts for:
- Handgun
- Carbine
- Shotgun
- Outdoor (live fire/Laserlyte/simunitions/airsoft)
- Indoor (Laserlyte/simunitions/airsoft).
- Safety protocol remains the same for live/non live fire to instill proper safety fundamentals.
