Critical Incident Combative System
Critical Incident Combatives (C.I.C.) is born of a cooperative effort among instructors of various self-defense systems with the sole goal to bring you, the student, a comprehensive training program for personal protection.
Progressive Defensive Tactics Instructors have long realized these simple facts:
- No single system has all the answers/solutions, to all the plausible self-defense scenarios one may encounter.
- Learning a techniques in isolation without preparing emotionally and psychologically for a confrontation leaves the student unprepared to deal with fear, how to harness it and use it as a stimulus to action.
- It is necessary to study and understand the physiological effects of surprise, fear and danger and how they affect performance.
- It is fundamental to integrate the body’s instinctive reactions to surprise, fear and danger in any defensive training program to develop and practice tactics that work well with what our body does naturally to protect us in the worst possible scenario (aka “The Ambush”).
- Evaluating mindset and skills in simulations through realistic force on force scenarios allows the student to experience the closest thing to a real violent encounter while revealing areas for improvement and/or the opportunity to expand skills or contexts.
These are the principles that brought together the founders of Critical Incident Combatives in an unprecedented effort to develop the most efficient defensive training system available. Simple, easy to learn, easy to retain and to call upon in the time of need.
Counter Ambush Training Methodology
The core of the C.I.C. is based on the Counter Ambush Training Methodology. This program has been the culmination of over 20 years of research and studies done by Rob Pincus and the I.C.E Training Company encompassing physics, physiology, anatomy, decision-making, psychology, neuroscience, kinesiology, adult learning, physical fitness, unarmed personal defense, personal defense with a firearm, and much more to deliver a training program that will ensure you are fully prepared for a dynamic critical incident for all levels of personal defense: from civilian to Military, Law Enforcement or Security Professionals.
Other System that are integrated into C.I.C. are:
Personal Defense Readiness and S.P.E.A.R. System™
From the P.D.R. website: “…Personal Defense Readiness/S.P.E.A.R. System™…are the first training programs for personal protection that fully integrates the body’s reflexive responses and instinctive survival mechanisms making them the easiest, most natural way to learn to protect yourself. These programs also includes unique and patent learning models but most importantly, they have pioneered research on how to manage and overcome fear.
Strategically & tactically speaking, these programs are based on how real confrontations actually occur and the curricula are based on a ’3-Dimensional’ theory that creates confidence on emotional, psychological and physical levels.
Our Teaching Doctrine
We only teach realistic self-defense skills that are street applicable. Students are exposed to aggressive as well as defensive role playing to simulate encounters and to prepare them to react ethically as well as decisively to real-life aggression. Our curriculum covers verbal defusing tactics, choice speech principles and a host of other behaviorally researched strategies…”
Krav Maga
From Endeavor Defense and Fitness website:
“…Krav Maga is the official hand-to-hand combat system of the Israeli Defense Forces. It’s also the preferred system for U.S. Military and law enforcement personnel. Krav Maga is not a traditional martial art. It is a real world self-defense system. Based on simple principles and instinctive movements, this reality-based system is designed to teach real self-defense in the shortest possible time. Learn to defend against common chokes, grabs, and bear hugs, as well as weapons such as guns, knives, and sticks. Just as important, we teach people to function during the stress and shock of a sudden, violent encounter. Tested on the battlefield and in the streets, Krav Maga’s practical approach to self-defense will make you safer and more secure.”
Brasilian Ju Jitzu – Judo – Muai Thai
From 10X BJJ website:
“…Judo takes advantage of standup grappling close quarter distance, it takes advantage of your opponents strength to put him off balance and throw him, if the person doesn’t know how to take a fall, chances are an incapacitating injury will follow. Chokes and joint manipulations are utilized to control or finish the opponent.”
“… Brazilian jiu-jitsu is as technical as judo, but the fighting is done on the ground, chokes, joint manipulations are used to finish the opponent or make him submit, a technically proficient person of smaller stature can gain positional superiority over a much larger opponent.
“…the value in Muai Thai is you take advantage of the striking distance in combat, you have many weapons at your disposal, fists, elbows, knees, shins and feet.”
Human Weapon System™
“…HWS specializes on long term fight craft development.
The training methods focus on physiological adaptations that occur
from consistent training over a period of time. The results include
energy conservative mechanical efficiency, optimal force production
through dynamic kinaesthetic alignment, quickness through efficient
motion, and enhanced sensory recognition. The training philosophy is
centralized around the worst case opponent who is bigger, faster,
stronger, and more resilient.
